The actress, who is a fiercely outspoken animal rights activist, has joined People For Animals in stopping this clean-up activity, which has already seen 1,200 dogs being picked up in Delhi
Actress Vedhika is quite the animal lover and is often seen becoming the voice of the voiceless when some form of injustice is meted out to them. The actress is currently protesting the alleged illegal impounding of stray dogs that’s been going on in Delhi to clean up the city for the ongoing G20 summit. In a statement from People For Animals (PFA) that she’s shared on her social media pages, Vedhika claims that as many as 1,200 dogs have already been illegally picked up and shifted to unknown locations by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, although the Mayor claims that there’s been no official word sanctioning such action.
“MCD has illegally picked up over 1200 dogs. The catching must be immediately halted and the impounded dogs accounted for — how many, from where taken to where? Citizen feeders must be enrolled into the care of these dogs and provided all help to ensure their safe return,” reads a part of the statement that Vedhika has shared. The statement is accompanied by a video of what appears to be footage of dogs being rounded up by municipal corporation workers in most gruesome manner. The action by MCD, she reckoned, goes against the theme of the G20 – Vasudaiva Kutumbakam. “It is hypocritical to talk of a shared future when we do not make room for or even acknowledge the existence of our co beings,” she stated.

Not long ago, the actress was the subject of incessant trolling when she raised her voice against the killing of two dogs in Britain. At the time, OTTplay had spoken to the actress and she had said, “If people are offended that I am speaking up for something in London, does it not occur to them that it can have a domino effect as to the kind of example it sets for the rest of the world. I just put out a message of what I thought after the incident. This was something important to me. Am sure the ones who put negative messages are the ones who are expecting images of me in a bikini. I am honestly not bothered about the trolling – this is my page, so my rules apply. If you don’t like what I am posting, get off my page.”
