VD12: The Vijay Deverakonda-Gowtam Tinnanuri period drama goes on floors, here's what we know

It is a known fact that Vijay Deverakonda has teamed up with director Gowtam Tinnanuri for a period drama. Tentatively titled VD12, the film is jointly produced by S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film is being made on a huge budget as per the news.

Well, the latest update is that the film has gone on floors today in Hyderabad. Vijay himself posted the news on Twitter. Sreeleela plays the female lead in this film and she has been paired opposite Vijay for the first time in her career. The first look of Sreeleela's character was also revealed the other day on the actor's birthday. Avinash Kolla is the art director of this film which is set in the 90's.

VD12 is presented by Srikara Studios. One of the country’s top composers, Anirudh Ravichander scores the music. Commemorating Vijay Deverakonda’s birthday the makers came up with a special surprise for fans even before the film went on floors. A new sepia-tinted retro poster of the untitled film was launched and it also received trolls for being a copy of an English film's poster.

Vijay Deverakonda suffered a major setback with the failure of Liger which he had pinned a lot of hopes on. With the intensity of Vijay Deverakonda and the storytelling abilities of Gowtam Tinnanuri, the director of Jersey and Malli Raava, one can expect a cracker of an outing on the big screen.

Girish Gangadharan is the cinematographer while Navin Nooli(National Award winner for Jersey) is the editor.  The shoot of VD12 commences this June. Other details surrounding the film cast will be announced shortly. Watch this space for more updates.
