Karan Johar unveils the new poster for Varshangalkku Shesham
Sharing the first look poster of Varshangalkku Shesham, Bollywood director Karan Johar wrote, “Today I am thrilled to share the first look poster of the much-awaited Malayalam film #VarshangalkkuShesham, from the makers of “Hridayam”. The film is set to have a worldwide theatrical release in April 2024 and I can’t wait to watch it! Wishing @visakhsubramaniam @vineeth84 and the fabulous cast and crew the very best!”.(sic)
Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal shine as MGR fans, sporting vintage looks
The new first-look poster has Dhyan and Pranav dancing opposite each other, with their hand gestures indicating that they are admiring a song. Behind them is a huge cutout image of the late Tamil superstar, Dr. MGR. By the look of the poster, the actors seem to be fans of the Tamil superstar and are seen posing like him. But the poster is also reminiscent of their father's Mohanlal and Sreenivasan's characters, Dasan and Vijayan, from the 1987 film Nadodikkattu. Over all, the poster gives off major early Tamil vintage vibes and promises a fun-filled, entertaining narrative.
Vineeth Sreenivasan: For Varshangalkku Shesham, I had to decline films of several good directors
Varshangalkku Shesham has a star-studded cast that includes Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Aju Varghese, Neeta Pillai, Basil Joseph, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Neeraj Madhav and Nivin Pauly. Nivin will be seen in a cameo appearance.
Is Varshangalkku Shesham based on Mohanlal and Sreenivasan's real-life incidents? Vineeth responds...
There were several speculations that Vineeth's film was inspired by the real-life stories of Malayalam actors Mohanlal, Sreenivasan and Mammootty and their professional struggles during their early days.
Vineeth addressed the speculations surrounding the plot of Varshangalkku Shesham, revealing that it is based on two friends and has nothing to do with the veteran actors.
“Varshangalkku Shesham has nothing to do with Mohanlal and Sreenivasan’s real-life incidents. The plot is centred around an old song from the 1980s and the issues arising due to the remake of that particular song after many years,” the director elaborated.
Varshangalkku Shesham marks the reunion of the Hridayam team, which is why expectations for the film have been high since its initial announcement.
