Vijay in Varisu

The much-awaited movie of Vijay, Varisu, has finally been released across the world today. Several shows of the film began from as early as 4 am in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The family drama has opened to decent reports from critics and movie goers. The trade is now looking forward to the numbers the film is going to bring to the table.

The director of the movie Vamshi Paidipally, musician Thaman and producer Dil Raju attended the FDFS of the project at a theatre in Chennai. The trio was ecstatic seeing the reaction of fans in the movie hall and they couldn't control tears.

The video of them turning emotional and hugging each other has been doing the rounds on social media. Actor Shaam and distributor SS Lalit Kumar were also spotted in the video. Varisu marks the debut of Raju in Kollywood. Though Vamshi had helmed a Tamil-Telugu movie earlier, this is his first big ticket Kollywood film.

The other day, Thaman had taken to social media to express happiness over his association with the movie and thanked Vijay for the opportunity. Now, all eyes are on the film's release in Telugu states. The Tollywood dubbed version, titled Vaarasudu, will be released in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on January 14.

Vijay's performance and Thaman's background score are said to be two pillars of Varisu. The dance choreography of Ranjithame and the presence of other artists like Sarath Kumar and Jayasudha are also garnering appreciation from cinephiles.

The movie was released along with Ajith's Thunivu at the box office. The Kollywood trade experts are awaiting the day one figures which are expected to be out by tomorrow.
