Vijay in Varisu
Team Varisu has surprised fans of Vijay by releasing a new poster at midnight. It has the star seen sitting laid-back on his SUV, sporting goggles and holding a glass of tea in his left hand. The uber-cool poster has the infamous Bellary mine as its backdrop and confirms Pongal release.
However, the much-awaited release date is missing on the poster, leaving some of the fans disappointed. The movie is set to have a box office clash with Ajith's Thunivu, and it looks like both the teams are waiting for the other to announce their release dates.
A short video from Varisu being shot in Bellary mine was leaked a while ago on social media. After the new poster's reveal, it is more or less confirmed that the mine is a significant element in the film's story. Touted as a family drama, it has Vamshi Paidipally at the helm and Dil Raju bankrolling it.
The first single from the project, Ranjithame, featuring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna, has crossed more than 70M views on YouTube, The makers are set to unveil the second single, crooned by Silambarasan, in a few days. This is the first time Thaman has composed for a Vijay-starrer.
Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Shaam and Samyuktha among others play important roles in the movie which will be released in Telugu and Hindi under the titles Vaarasudu and Varis respectively. Karthik Palani and Praveen KL have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the movie.
Seven Screen Studio, which bankrolled Vijay's Master, is distributing the film across Tamil Nadu. Amazon Prime Video acquired the digital rights of the film a while ago.
