Valyettan, the iconic Mammootty starrer directed by Shaji Kailas, is gearing up to have its re-release in remastered 4K format, soon. The much-awaited Valyettan 4K teaser is now out.
Mammootty joined hands with director Shaji Kailas in 2000, for the mass action-drama film, Valyettan. The movie, scripted by famous writer-director Ranjith, is loosely inspired by the epic Mahabharata. The megastar appeared in the role of Arakkal Madhavanunni, a self-made man and doting elder brother to his four younger brothers. Valyettan, which completed 24 years of its release this year, is now gearing up to have a re-release in remastered 4K format.
Recently, the makers of the iconic Mammootty starrer dropped the highly anticipated Valyettan 4K teaser on YouTube, to the much excitement of cinephiles. The well-made teaser begins with narration of Patteri Siva Raman, the lead antagonist, who is seen describing how Arakkal Madahavanunni escaped death every time. Later, the protagonist, played by Mammootty is seen returning to his ancestral home with his younger brothers, after winning the long-standing battle with his paternal uncle.
From the exceptional teaser of Valyettan 4K, it is safe to assume that director Shaji Kailas and team are set to treat the Mammootty fans and cinephiles with a well-remastered version of the film. Unlike the recently re-released Malayalam classics which went largely unnoticed, the 2000-released mass action film is gearing up to have a massive release globally. Vallyettan 4K is expected to break the box office records set by Mohanlal’s Devadoothan 4K. The Mammootty starrer is set to hit the theatres on November 29, 2024.
The Shaji Kailas directorial, written by Ranjith, revolves around the life of Arakkal Madhavanunni, and his long-standing battle with his paternal uncle Patteri Kuttikrishnan Nair and his son, Patteri Siva Raman. After the suicide of his parents, who were cheated by Kuttikrishnan, Madhavanunni becomes the parent of his four younger brothers, Raghu, Dasan, Appu, and Shankaran. Mammootty plays Madhavanunni in the film, while Sai Kumar played antagonist Siva Raman.
Shobana played the female lead opposite Mammootty in the film, which features Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Innocent, NF Varghese, Kalabhavan Mani, Sukumari, Sudheesh, Captain Raju, Poornima Indrajith, Vijaya Kumar, Kozhikode Narayanan Nair, and others in the supporting roles. Mohan Sitara and C Rajamani composed the songs and original score respectively, for the film.
