The postponement of the theatrical release of Valimai came as a huge disappointment for Ajith fans. The action thriller directed by Vinoth was supposed to hit the screens on January 13 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It is now heard that the makers might release the movie in March if everything goes well.

An official announcement from Boney Kapoor, who is producing the movie under Bay View Projects, along with Zee Studios, is awaited. Valimai is the second collaboration of Ajith, Vinoth and Boney after Nerkonda Paarvai (streaming on Zee5).

It is known that the trio will team up again for the third time for a movie which will be completed in a shorter time. If things fall in place, the plan is to release the untitled movie for Deepavali this year. Tentatively titled AK 61, Nirav Shah, who has cranked the camera for Valimai and Nerkonda Paarvai, has been roped in to handle cinematography this time, too.

Though the project was said to begin on Pongal day, there wasn't any update from the makers. The latest on the film is that it will go on floors in March in Hyderabad.

Interestingly, it is said that the set works for the project is already underway in Ramoji Film City. Unlike the first two movies of the actor director producer trio, Anirudh is said to be in talks to compose music for it. Yuvan Shankar Raja was the composer for Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai though Ghibran also is said to have worked for the latter.

If Anirudh bags the offer, it will be the young musician's third project with Ajith after Vedalam (streaming on YouTube) and Vivegam (streaming on MX Player), both directed by Siva in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
