The much-awaited first look and motion poster of Vinoth's Ajith-starrer Valimai were released a couple of months, leaving the star's fans delighted. There have been various rumours doing the rounds since then with regard to the film's release date. It was said that the movie will hit the screens on November 4, on the occasion of Deepavali, thus locking horns with Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatthe at the box office. But there has been no official update from the team till now. With the recent announcement that Silambarasan-starrer Maanaadu is releasing on Deepavali, it is more or less confirmed that Valimai will hit the screens only later this year.

The makers have now come up with another update, much to the surprise of movie buffs. Today marks the birthday of Tollywood actor Kartikeya, who is making his Tamil debut with the movie. Bayview Projects LLP, the production house of Boney Kapoor, which is bankrolling the project, has unveiled his look from the movie, leaving his fans excited. The young actor is seen sitting with a bottle of liquor in one hand while the other hand has him holding an untraceable cell phone. It is said that Kartikeya, who plays the antagonist in the action thriller, uses brilliant mind games and latest technology to commit horrific crimes.

Ajith will be seen essaying the role of a cop in the film which is set against the backdrop of bike racing. Huma Qureshi plays the female lead in Valimai; the project marks her second outing in Kollywood. Fans are eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of her look from the movie. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the film, which has Nirav Shah cranking the camera and Dhilip Subbarayan choreographing action sequences. According to sources, Valimai is likely to have a theatrical release in December, and the teaser is expected to be out in a few weeks' time.
