Valimai release date: When and where to watch this year's biggest Tamil hit film starring Ajith online

One of the biggest releases Kollywood has been waiting for more than two years was Ajith-starrer Valimai. After a couple of unofficial postponements and an official postponement, the action film finally hit the screens on February 24. H Vinoth has directed the movie which has been produced by Boney Kapoor under Bay View Projects, along with Zee Studios. Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya, Achyuth Kumar, Sumithra, Raj Ayyappa and Pugazh play key roles in the project.

What's Valimai about?

The film's story revolves around a Madurai-based cop who goes to Chennai to nab a dreaded criminal who carries out a slew of spine-chilling atrocities in the city using jobless youngsters. Initially, the cop finds it tough to crack the case as he is torn between family issues and unexpected intelligent moves of the criminal. Later, he faces new setbacks when the antagonist targets his family in a smart way.

How did Valimai garner a record opening collection on day one at Tamil Nadu box office?

Ajith's previous outing Nerkonda Paarvai was released in theatres in 2019. Fans of the star have been impatiently waiting for the film for a long time and the stills of the movie and first single along with teaser and trailer elevated the expectations like never before. Valimai released in record number of theatres in Tamil Nadu which helped it become the highest grossing Tamil film on day one.

When and where to watch Valimai online?

Billed as the biggest hit in Ajith's career, the film will start screaming on Zee5 from March 25. The star's last outing, Nerkonda Paarvai, too, had its digital release on the same platform. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed songs for the movie which has Ghibran working on its background score. Nirav Shah and Vijay Velukutty have handled cinematography and editing for Valimai respectively. The film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages on OTT.
