Ajith's Valimai has been in the making for quite some time. The movie directed by H Vinoth has been produced by Boney Kapoor, in association with Zee Studios. The action thriller marks the second collaboration of Ajith, Vinoth and Boney.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the film which has Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya, Yogi Babu, Achyuth Kumar and Sumithra among others essaying important characters in it. Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed action sequences for the big budget project.
What's Valimai's story?
The film's story, which revolves around a biker-turned-cop, is based on a real life person. Valimai is about a dedicated cop who takes on a few dreaded bikers who are into various illegal activities. How he nabs them after undergoing several challenges forms the crux of the film.
Kartikeya plays the antagonist in the movie which also marks his Kollywood debut. The trailer of the film which released more than a month ago offered a glimpse into its story.
Why is there an unprecedented hype around Valimai?
The project is Ajith's release after a hiatus of more than two-and-a-half years. Though the film was supposed to release much earlier, the pandemic made the makers postpone its release further. It was finally expected to have a release on Deepavali 2021, but got slated officially as a Pongal 2022 release.
However, the third wave spoiled their plans again, and they came up with a new release date recently. Valimai is billed as one of the biggest action thrillers to come from Tamil cinema.
When and where to watch Valimai?
The much-expected movie is hitting the screens on February 24 in record number of screens in Tamil Nadu. The film will have simultaneous release in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages as well on the same day. Zee5 has bagged the film's digital rights sometime ago.
