Valimai: Director H Vinoth says ‘youngsters failed to recognise film’s message of peer pressure

Ajith Kumar’s Valimai was one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and it has gotten off to a strong box office start. Director H Vinoth has now said that the youngsters have failed to recognise the message in Valimai.

“Valimai isn't exactly what one section of the audience perceives it to be-- the youngsters. The film is packed with a strong message of peer pressure and social challenges that the youth has been going through in modern society.” the director told DTNext.

He added that the youth have to suffer through the criticisms of the society, who expects them to chase a good job, money and fame. While some fail to do so, they resort to alcohol and drugs and that the movie has discussed things about youngsters who are misled and end up being rebels, says H Vinoth.

Bankrolled by Boney Kapoor under his banner Bayview Projects LLP, along with Zee Studios, Valimai was also released in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada, making it Ajith’s first pan-Indian project.

The action drama also features Kartikeya Gummakonda, Huma Qureshi, Yogi Babu, Pugazh, Sumitra, GM Sundar and Pearle Maaney in crucial roles.

This is the second collaboration between Ajith, Vinoth and Kapoor, who previously worked together on Nerkonda Paarvai the Tamil remake of Pink starring Amithab Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu.

According to Trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the movie has collected Rs 165 crore worldwide after its first week in theatres. The movie also had the second highest grosser among day one collection for movies in Tamil Nadu.

With Valimai still doing well in the box office, there is still no official update about the movie’s OTT release.
