Vaishnavi Macdonald plays a single mother in the Gitanjalli Aran-directed film, also starring Sanjay Mishra and Alka Amin
Seasoned film and television actress Vaishnavi Macdonald has been roped in for an upcoming film about ‘karma and destiny’, starring Sanjay Mishra, Farida Jalal and Alka Amin. Titled Karmaa Meets Kismet the film is directed by Gitanjalli Aran. Vaishnavi - who is best known for her work in Shaktiman, Ladlaa, Dil Se Dil Tak, Aye Mere Humsafar and Tera Yaar Hoon Main, among others - will be playing a single mother in the new film.
Speaking about her experience of being part of this project, Vaishnavi said, “It was rather a different, unusual and challenging experience. I’m playing a single mother in the film, who somehow tries to balance everything in life. It was a contemporary character, which had its own challenges. That said, the entire set up of the film and the way Gitanjalli and her team connect with people is praise-worthy. The director, in particular, is down-to-earth, kind and, at the same time, very professional.”

On the set, it’s veteran actress Farida with whom Vaishnavi seems to have fond memories. “Faridaji was amazing to work with. She’s gentle and warm, almost like a real mom on the set. You always get to learn more from veteran artistes like her. We really gelled well, and had a very good rapport. The whole experience was memorable and still etched in my memory - something that I will always cherish.”
Currently in the post-production stage, the movie is described as a ‘soul-searching voyage - a journey of self-discovery’. According to Gitanjalli, who has previously directed Yeh Khula Aasmaan, Karmaa Meets Kismet promises to be a “captivating musical tale of love that explores the interconnected themes of karma and destiny”. “The narrative focuses on the power of our conscious actions. If you have ever left your path thinking that it’s not in your destiny, this film is meant for you,” the director added.
