Dhanush in Vaathi
Venky Atluri's bilingual drama, Vaathi, starring Dhanush in the titular role, opened to decent reviews upon its theatrical release on February 17. The film, which was released in Telugu as Sir, was bankrolled by Sithara Entertainments. Movie buffs were elated to see the project receiving more or less the same reception from Kollywood and Tollywood.
Samyuktha played the female lead in the film which has Samuthirakani, Tanikella Bharani, Saikumar and Sumanth having essayed crucial roles. GV Prakash's music was considered to be one of the highlights of the movie which has effective visuals by Yuvraj and crisp editing by Naveen Nooli.
Vaathi and Sir dropped on Netflix yesterday and fans of Dhanush have been taking to social media to post their favourite moments from the social drama. It revolves around a teacher who puts his best foot forward to impart education to underprivileged students in a village.
However, he faces challenges from a selfish educationist who is into commercializing educational institutions. The performances of artists have been considered as one of the major aspects for the movie's success. The film marked Dhanush's first straight project in Tollywood.
After its digital premiere, makers have come up with an announcement on its official box office figures. A few days ago, they had revealed that the movie had entered the coveted 100 crore club. According to them, the Dhanush-starrer has grossed 118 crores. This is said to be the third movie of the star to enter the 100 crore mark after Asuran and Thiruchitrambalam.
The actor's next outing is Captain Miller which has Arun Matheswaran at its helm. Billed as the biggest project in his career, the adventure action thriller will be released later this year.
