The movie is based on Tamil writer, C.S Chellappa’s novel of the same name
Vaadivaasal is one of the most anticipated films in South India. Starring Suriya in the lead, this is the first time the actor will be working with filmmaker, Vetrimaaran. The latest update is that the production for the movie is in motion.
The exciting news was confirmed after fans shared pictures from the sets of Vaadivaasal, where Suriya and Vetrimaaran are spotted. The shooting is currently taking place at ECR, Chennai.
An ambitious project, Vaadivaasal has had fans excited ever since it was officially announced. The makers also released the first look poster for the film back in July last year. The poster featured Suriya and an imprint of a bull on a dark, grey backdrop.
The movie will be set around Tamil Nadu’s Jallikattu, the bullfighting sport. Vaadivaasal is a place in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu where bullfighting is a popular sport as well as a spectacle.
Written and directed by the National Award-winning filmmaker, the film is based on Tamil writer C.S Chellappa’s novel of the same name. R. Velraj and Jacki, who have both previously worked with the director, are the cinematographer and art director for the film, respectively.
The movie has music composed by GV Prakash. The music director had revealed earlier this month that they hav e already started working on the film’s music, and have completed three or four songs, which will be an extreme version of raw folk music.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan released in theatres on March 10, and has received mixed to postitive reviews.
Vetrimaaran, who last helmed a segment in the anthology series, Paava Kadhaigal, is also working on Viduthalai, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi.
