The upcoming film, which also stars Parineeti Chopra and Boman Irani, is directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya.
Rajshri Productions, Mahaveer Jain Films and Boundless Media have officially come together to produce the upcoming movie Uunchai. The producers officially announced the news on their official social media handles recently.
The upcoming film will mark the 60th film production of Rajshri Productions as well as the debut Bollywood production of Boundless Media. The upcoming film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani in lead roles. Neena Gupta, Sarika and Parineeti Chopra will also feature in pivotal roles in the film. The film is directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya.
According to a report in Desimartini, Uunchai’s premise revolves around a ‘contemporary’ story of four friends in their 60s, and is a ‘different’ story for Barjatya. The film will reportedly be shot across locations in Nepal, Mumbai and Delhi.
The upcoming film marks Kher’s 520th project in his career. The Kashmir Files star had announced his involvement in the project last year in October. The actor had mentioned that the upcoming film would be his fourth collaboration with director Barjatya, posting a photograph of the director. Kher and Barjatya had worked together on Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!(1994), Vivah(2006) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo(2015).
Chopra had also shared her excitement at being a part of the project on her social media handles, saying she felt ‘thrilled and honoured’ to be a part of Barjatya’s directorial. Calling the director the ‘torchbearer of India’s family entertainers’, the actress had mentioned her excitement at being able to work in the project with a ‘stellar’ cast. Chopra was in Nepal at the time, filming for the upcoming project.
