Aishwarya Rajesh's casting has officially been confirmed; to be paired with Dhananjaya
Uttarakaanda, the next production from the house of KRG Studios, is getting bigger by the day. Started as a project with Dhananjaya in the lead, with Ramya roped in for a pivotal role, which would be her return to cinema, the film has officially gone on floors a year and a half after the muhurtha, with a lot of changes. For starters, the Rohit Padaki-directed film will be made in two parts. Dhananjaya will be joined by Shivarajkumar in the lead, while Ramya is no longer on the cast. In late March this year, she took to Instagram to announce that she was not doing the film after all, giving no reason for this.
Aishwarya Rajesh to make her Kannada film debut with Uttarakaanda
Ramya’s exit, though, has now paved the way for a new entrant into Kannada cinema. Popular Tamil and Telugu actress Aishwarya Rajesh has been confirmed as the character Durgi, which, according to a source, is the role that was initially meant for Ramya. Durgi, we are told, is a strong and powerful character who will be paired with Dhananjaya’s Gabru Sathya, say the makers, welcoming the Kaaka Muttai, World Famous Lover and Vada Chennai fame actress to Kannada cinema.
Bhavana to be paired with Shivarajkumar in Uttarakaanda
Bhavana Menon, whose casting is officially yet to be announced but confirmed her casting to OTTplay, will be paired with Shivarajkumar. Uttarakaanda’s first schedule is currently on in Bijapur. The film also stars Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu, Chaithra J Achar, Rangayana Raghu, Yogaraj Bhat, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Umashree, and Diganth, among others. The ensemble cast, says a source, is massive, with more announcements to be made in the coming days.
Uttarakaanda Teaser: Dhananjaya, Rohit Padaki promise a vibrant gangster tale
Amit Trivedi has been roped in for the music of Uttarakaanda, while Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’s cinematographer, Advaith Gurumuthy, handles the camera. Uttarakaanda is Rohit’s second film with KRG Studios and Dhananjaya, after Rathnan Prapancha. The film’s first part is said to be the biggest venture for the banner in terms of scale.
