US Box Office - This is how much Jr NTR's Devara and Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara need to make to be in the safe zone

Devara and Vishwambhara

In the last few years, the overseas market for Telugu films has gone up rapidly. A chunk of the film's revenue is coming from the US market and the theatrical rights of Telugu films are being sold for exorbitant rates and the filmmakers are having no complaints about it.

Having said that, some films are being sold at higher rates and when they do not breach the breakeven mark, the US distributors end up in massive losses in the overseas market. The same situation has been created once again as the theatrical rights of NTR's Devera has been sold for a whopping 27 crore in the US to Hamsini Entertainment.

That means, Devara needs to make at least 5 million dollars to be in the safe zone. This is a very high ask and no solo NTR film has achieved that feat so far. RRR managed to make big money but it was Rajamouli's film.

On the other hand, the US rights of Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara have been bagged by Saregama for a whopping 18 crore which means the Chiranjeevi-starrer need to make at least 3.5 million to 4 million to be in the US. This is a huge ask as commercial films do not fare well in the US as much as class films do.

NTR's Devara is a mass drama and it will be really hard for it to go pass the 5 million dollar mark as it will have a lot of bloodshed. For these films to be in the safe zone, the US promotions are a must and they also need a blockbuster talk for the film to take a great start at the US box office.

Devara is almost done with its shoot and will hit the screens on August 15, 2024, alongside Allu Arjun's Pushpa. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is yet to join the sets of Vishwambhara and the makers are in plans to release the film as a Sankranthi 2025 special.

We need to see how much will these films make in the US. For now, the US market is booming as films are being sold for massive prices and at the same time are in danger of sinking. Watch this space for more updates on this project.
