Midhunam, helmed by Priyadarshan, starring Mohanlal and Urvashi is one of the popular films in Malayalam. The film dealt with the adversities faced by Sethumadhavan, a wanna-be entrepreneur, who decides to start a biscuit factory. In the film, Urvashi essays the wife of Mohanlal, Sulochana who constantly pesters him with his complaints. The movie is known for the performances of the actors and its comedy sequences.

After Midhunam, Priyadarshan reunites with Urvashi for the Tamil movie Appatha. The movie also marks the 700th film of Urvasi, who is regarded as one of the most versatile actresses in Malayalam. The initial screening of the movie was done at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Film Festival, this year. Now the makers have revealed the release date of the film. According to reports, Appatha will be a direct OTT release through JioCinema on July 29.

Appatha is said to revolve around the subjects of geriatric care, love and respect. Urvashi appears in the look of an elderly character in this movie. Along with Urvashi, the presence of actors like Prakash Raj and Samuthirakani also add to the excitement for this movie.

Recently, a poster was published by Jio Cinema, announcing the release of the movie. In the poster, Urvashi is seen with a dog, in a happy moment.

Priyadarshan had earlier said that the storyline of Appatha is different from what he had attempted in the past.

Written by Hardik Gajjar, the screenplay of Appatha is crafted by Priyadarshan and Deepthi Govindarajan. National award winner Madhu Ambat cranks the camera for the movie.

Meanwhile, Urvashi had completed the shoot of her two films, Iyer Kanda Dubai and Ullozhukku.

The previous movie of Urvashi to hit theatres was Charles Enterprises, which received a cold response from theatres.
