J Baby, starring Urvashi and Attakathi Dinesh in the lead roles, is backed by Pa Ranjith and directed by debutant Suresh Mari
J Baby, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Urvashi and Attakathi Dinesh in the lead roles has completed the censor formalities. The film has been given a clean U certificate; the makers of the film announced on social media recently.
The film is produced by filmmaker Pa Ranjith under his banner Neelam Productions. A release date for the film is yet to be announced. “A story filled with emotions true to our home. No Cuts. No Mutes. It’s a clean ‘U’ for our #JBaby. A wholesome family entertainer is on its way,” wrote Pa Ranjith on X (formerly Twitter). It is to be noted that J Baby is the first film produced by the banner to get a U certificate.
The film is written and directed by Suresh Mari in his directorial debut. He has previously assisted director Venkat Prabhu in films like Saroja and Goa, and assisted Ranjith in Kabali and Kaala. The film is backed by Ranjith in association with Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh, Saurabh Gupta, Aditi Anand, and Ashwini Chaudhary.

As per reports, J Baby will be a family drama with Urvashi and Dinesh expected to play mother and son duo. Apart from them, the film also stars Lollu Sabha Maran who was recently seen in Vadakkupatti Ramasamy alongside Santhanam. The film is expected to have comic, emotional and drama portions.
The technical crew of J Baby consists of Jayanth Sethu Mathavan as the cinematographer, with Tony Britto composing the score. The editing is taken care by Shanmugam Velusamy. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.

Pa Ranjith, who has directed several hit films like Sarpatta Parambarai, Kaala, Attakathi, found Neelam Productions to back films that tell strong stories. Pariyerum Perumal, Seththumaan, Writer, are some of the critically acclaimed films hailing from the banner.

The recently released Blue Star, starring Ashok Selvan and Shathanu Bhagyaraj, opened to positive reception and is currently running in theatres. The banner is also co-producing Thangalaan with Studio Green banner. The film stars Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvottu, Malavika Mohanan among others is due to hit theatres in summer 2024.
