Uppena was a smash hit at the box office and gave Tollywood a new director in Buchi Babu Sana. With just his second film, Buchi Babu bagged the golden chance to direct none other than Ram Charan for a sports drama. The film also has Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead.
Janhvi's father, filmmaker Boney Kapoor, also graced the launch event and said that he loved Uppena and is remaking it in Hindi with his other daughter, Khushi Kapoor. This statement made headlines. As of now, the hunt for the director is on.
We at OTTplay have come to know from our sources that one of Sukumar's assistants is likely to direct this film. Not many know but Buchi Babu, who directed Uppena, was also an AD of Sukumar. Now that he is busy with the Ram Charan starter, he has suggested one of Sukumar's assistants to Boney Kapoor.
Sukumar has a massive team and close to ten ADs work with him. So, who is getting the lucky chance is suspenseful. The discussions are on and Boney is in talks with the makers of Uppena, Mythri Movie Makers for the remake rights to the film.
Khushi Kapoor to star in Uppena Hindi remake
Uppena had Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty in lead roles and was made on a very low budget. Tamil star, Vijay Sethupathi played the main villain in this romantic drama, which has a very unique and tragic ending. DSP's music was also a rage in Uppena and Krithi Shetty's role was amazing and had scope for a lot of performance.

That is also one of the reasons for Boney Kapoor to remake the film in Hindi, as Khushi will get ample scope to showcase her talent. The youngest daughter of Boney Kapoor made her debut with the Zoya Akhtar film Archies, which also had many other star kids making their debuts.
For now, Boney Kapoor is quite happy that Janhvi Kapoor is making big strides in Telugu cinema with two back-to-back biggies. Janhvi will make her Telugu debut with Jr NTR's Devara. Watch this space for more updates on this project.
