Directed by Gaganjeet Singh, Jio Studios’ upcoming web series, UP65 is inspired by author-columnist Nikhil Sachan’s Hindi novel of the same name. Debutant Shine Pandey - who is playing a pivotal role in the show - recently said that he is both excited and nervous because it’s the first time his friends and family are going to see him on screen.
Shine will play an IITian in the series - which also features Pritam Jaiswal, Abbas Ali Ghaznavi, Jay Thakar, Pragati Mishra, Ria Nalavade and Anmol Jyotir in pivotal roles. Known for his books like Namak Swadanusar and Zindagi Aais Pais Nikhil’s UP65 is said to be “a giveback to Banaras and BHU for all that these two places gave him”. The narrative traces the journey of Nishant, an IIT BHU student, who is trying to find love, friends and purpose in his life. A comedy drama, the web series focuses on the value of love and friendship in one’s life. The show is set to release on June 8.
Shine, who is thrilled about making his OTT debut, said, “I am really excited about it, but also a bit nervous, because it’s the first time my friends and family are going to see me on screen. Thinking about it is kind of overwhelming, but also exciting. Five years ago, I would have never imagined any of this happening, but I always believed in myself. So, all of this is quite magical, and I am grateful for it.”
Giving an insight into his character in the show, the actor said, “Nishant is a boy from Kanpur, who is sincere, motivated and childlike. He believes he can excel and grow in life through studies and bookish knowledge. But the universe has a different plan for him.”
