There's no doubt that Komal's acting career has been a vibrant one. His 30-year (and counting) stint has seen in him a variety of comical roles and during this course, he also managed to rise through the ranks to become a leading man. To justify this position, Komal delivered multiple successes along the way and the 2010s decade, in particular, turned out to be his most memorable phase to date. Leveraging this, he would then turn a "serious" actor in 2019 with Kempegowda 2 and also undergo a physical transformation to fit into the cop's avatar. The film may not have worked wonders at the box office but it was apparent that Komal had no hesitation in redefining himself as an actor.

But, as it turns out, the comedian in him is yet to be fully expelled and before we know it, he is back with yet another humorous film. Titled Undenaama, the film is a lockdown adult comedy about a man whose pursuits of finding a "lover" go awry when the first wave of the pandemic breaks loose. Komal returns to action after a long gap but his ardent fans would certainly feel glad to see him doing what he does best. Undenaama releases in cinema halls on April 14, along with the Ramesh Aravind starter Shivaji Surathkal 2.

However, interestingly, Komal himself believes that comedy is a dying genre and that it is very difficult to make audiences laugh in this era. "Being a cinephile myself, I have been looking for comedy films myself but I realize that in the last 4-5 years, you don't find anything that will make roll on the floor laughing. The reason is that earlier, we would source material either from the internet or somewhere else and then present it in a cinematic manner to create a 'joke' on screen. But now, if someone were to find a joke somewhere, they will put it out themselves on social media and the audience is already aware of the funny moment before they watch the film. So, it is tougher to make them laugh now," said Komal in a recent interview with a YouTube channel.

Adding to this, he said that comedy, unlike an action or a dance sequence, isn't dependent on the beauty of the shot taken but on factors like timing and editing. "I have walked out of projects because the team did not understand or comply with the kind of comedy I wanted to attempt. Comedy, ultimately, is about how you present it and later edit it to create that funny moment. If that doesn't happen, you can't make anyone laugh," he shares.
