Akshay Kumar starring film Bell Bottom is the biggest film to release in theatres after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film's been released in limited states with limited seating (50% occupancy) capacity in its theatres keeping in mind the precautions to be followed according to the guidelines by the government. However, soon it will be available for streaming online.

According to a report on Pinkvilla, Bell Bottom will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical release. The movie is likely to release on the OTT platform 28 days after its theatrical release on August 19.

Bell Bottom will be breaking the norm of waiting for eight weeks before the OTT release. It will instead be available to the public within four weeks of its release itself.

The film happens to be the second-highest OTT film release after Salman Khan's Bharat which was released in 2019. While the latter was sold for Rs 90 crore, Bell Bottom's rights are reportedly sold for a whopping Rs. 75 crore.

The movie, also starring Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles, is currently unavailable in states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Kerala and Andaman, where theatres are yet to open up. Bell Bottom is directed by Ranjit Tewari and produced by Pooja Entertainment.

The film was also reportedly leaked online recently but was taken down soon after being reported.

Various celebrities and Akshay Kumar's fans who saw the movie in theatres have been pouring in praises for the film, which is a near-perfect representation of the '70s. The critics too are in awe of the movie. Lara Dutta, who has undergone a transformation to play the role of the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has been receiving a lot of critical acclaim for her role too.

Bell Bottom was also the first film to begin shooting in a foreign location after the COVID-19 Unlock phase started. Despite the tough situations, Akshay kept his promise to his fans and released the film around Indian Independence Day. The movie has collected Rs. 2.50 crore at the Box Office so far, on its second day of release.
