In a tragic news development, actress Noor Malabika Das, 31, who had starred in a few web series, was found dead at her rented apartment in Mumbai recently. When a neighbour complained of a foul smell on Friday (June 7), the police checked her house and found the decomposed body of the young actress.

While the police investigation into the matter is underway, the family of the actress has reacted to it on June 11.

Family finally reacts to the actress’ death

The actor's paternal aunt Arati Das, who hails from Assam’s Karimganj, told The Times of India that Noor had "big hopes" for her acting career when she moved to Mumbai and was working very hard to realize it. Nevertheless, she was "unsatisfied with her accomplishments. This, according to Arati, may have motivated her to take the drastic measure.

After her neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from her apartment, the police from the Oshiwara station went to her house in Lokhandwala and discovered Noor's decomposing body.  She was found hanging and it is suspected that she died by suicide.

Noor Malabika Das essayed the lead role in series such as Walkaman, Siskiyaan, Teekhi Chutney, and Jaghanya Upaay, that are available on Ullu. Notably, all these web series are meant for viewers above 18 years of age.

Did Noor Malabika Das ever work with Kajol?

Noor Malabika Das played a minor role in The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha, which stars the famous Bollywood actress Kajol. This series is available on Disney Plus Hotstar, and also features actors Kubbra Sait and Jisshu Sengupta in crucial roles.

Kajol has not commented on Noor Malabika Das’ death case yet.

Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, demanding a proper police investigation into Das’ death.
