UI release: Upendra is thrilled with the response to the visuals of UI so far and how audiences have decoded them all.
The first poster of UI
During the promotions of his upcoming return to direction, UI, Real Star Upendra was often amazed by the various theories that were presented to him as possible scenarios in the film, based on the fleeting visuals he has deigned to put in the public domain. He has not confirmed or denied any of the theories, but has been appreciative of the fact that audiences are putting in effort to decode what he’s trying to say with the film, even though they have very little at their disposal.
Upendra on UI: Everyone will understand the basic plot, but decoding the layers is up to each person
When UI releases on December 20, Upendra hopes that audiences will continue to wear their thinking hats and examine every frame with a microscopic lens, as he’s woven several metaphoric layers into the narrative. He’s excited to find out what people make of what he’s presented onscreen and there is something in particular that he’s eagerly awaiting.
“Right from my film A, audiences have always dissected and decoded my films, which gives me the confidence that if you do something new and interesting, they will do it again with the same vigour. They’ve taken it on as challenge that they will decode whatever I present. I am really anxious and eager to see what they make of the last shot in the film and how they interpret it,” the actor-filmmaker said in an interaction with Cinema Vikatan.
Plan to watch UI? Know Upendra the director with these films first
UI is Upendra’s return to the director’s chair after nearly a decade, and while the original idea germinated years ago, it’s taken shape into what it is today in the last year or two. The film has been censored U/A, with a runtime of 2 hours and 12 minutes only. According to the official plot synopsis as per the censor certificate, the film revolves around the conflict between a king and an extraordinary man, with the latter using his superior intellect to usurp the former and take control of his town, as a dictator.
