Kylian Mbappe suffered the injury as he collided with Austrian defender Kevin Danso towards the end of the match at Dusseldorf at UEFA European Championship 2024
It was a self-goal that defeated Austria against France at the group league match of UEFA European Championship 2024 by 1-0. France registered a narrow victory when Maximilian Woeber's header created the difference seven minutes before the half time at Dusseldorf at the wee hour of Tuesday (IST).

Mbappe – one of the best contenders in the tournament – suffered the injury as he collided with Austrian defender Kevin Danso almost by the end of the tournament. He was shushed to the hospital for an X-ray. Later, the French football federation confirmed that the newest star of Real Madrid had a broken nose. Moreover, he will have to wear a mask when he gets back on the field.
A statement issued by the federation read: "Kylian Mbappe suffered a broken nose during the second half of the Austria v France match this Monday in Duesseldorf. The captain of the French team was first taken care of by the medical staff and doctor Franck Le Gall, who diagnosed a broken nose. Diagnosis confirmed during radiological examinations at the Duesseldorf hospital. Kylian Mbappe has returned to the base camp of the French team. He will undergo treatment in the coming days, without undergoing surgery immediately."

France’s next match is on Friday against the Netherlands – one of the biggest contenders of the cup. Mbappe’s injury has undoubtedly been a big blow in Didier Deschamps’ camp. It is not just Mbappe, Griezman too suffered a bloodied injury soon after half-time as he collided with an advertisement board.
