A still from the film
The makers of debutant director Karthik Seenivasan's Udanpaal have decided to skip its theatrical release. They have come up with its trailer and release date announcement. Billed as a family drama, it stars Gayathrie and Abarnathi in lead roles. Vivek Prasanna, Linga, Dheena and Charlie among others play key roles in the film.
It revolves around two siblings who attempt to finish off their father for their selfish needs. But the senior citizen gets to know their children's intentions and comes up with an idea to thwart their plans.
Madhan Christopher and Sakthi Balaji have handled cinematography and music respectively for the project which has editing by G Madan. AR Raghavendran has written the story for the film along with director Karthik while MSP Madhavan has helmed art direction.
Gayathrie, who has had notable releases this year, is bidding adieu to 2022 with Udanpaal. She played a crucial role in the blockbuster Vikram, a performance oriented character in Maamanithan and one of the leads in Malayalam super hit movie Nna Thaan Case Kodu. The film is Abarnathi's sophomore project; she debuted with Jail last year.
Udanpaal, the dark comedy bankrolled by KV Durai, will drop on aha Tamil on December 30. The makers have made the announcement along with the trailer which offered a glimpse into its story and backdrop.
It's the last original project of the digital platform which was launched this year with much fanfare. They began with two series Irai and Akash Vaani which were dropped in February.
