Actor Vijay Sethupathi and directors Vetrimaaran and Ameer unveiled the first look poster for Mangai earlier in January. Viewers have been intrigued by the poster, which depicts a woman-centric film. It had also offered a glimpse of Kayal Anandhi's character in this movie.
It also shows people taking pictures of this character with their cellphones. The creators intend to release the songs from this film in February, according to sources. Filming took place in Chennai, Theni, Cumbum, Kudalur, Lower Camp, and Kerala's Munnar and Poopara.

The film has been directed by Gubenthiran Kamatchi. Gubenthiran Kamatchi has collaborated on Tamil and Telugu film projects with a number of well-known directors as a dialogue writer and co-director. He expressed his belief that Mangai would be able to keep the public's interest when the first look poster was released on January 1.
A R Jaffer Sadiq has bankrolled the film under JSM Pictures’ banner. The soundtracks for Mangai have been composed by Theeson. The camera work has been helmed by S J Star and Parthiban Antony is the editor of this movie. Karthik Durai is the executive producer.
The supporting cast of this film includes Adithya Kathir, Ram, and Dushyanth Jayaprakash. Son of actor and producer Jayaprakash, Dushyanth appeared in Sasikumar's film Easan in 2010.
