The buzz on social media was that Charan Raj had worked on the score, which features Shruti Haasan’s vocals, but then Jeremy Stack took to social media to confirm it was his work
When the title announcement of Rocking Star Yash’s most-awaited next finally happened on December 8, audiences who tuned in just could not get over the extraordinary background music (BGM) that played along. Although there was no announcement on the music director in the title reveal, since Kannada composer Charan Raj’s name had been doing the rounds as the potential collaborator on the film, it was assumed that it was his handiwork after all. Netizens gushed about the superlative music that worked wonders for the reveal, and put on their sleuthing caps to find out more. And lo and behold, by the evening, a hitherto relatively unknown name popped up - Jeremy Stacks – who, as it turns out is an award-wining UK-based musician specialising in trailer and promo music.
Yash19 is Toxic; sets long-holiday date with audiences
Turns out, Jeremy had taken to Instagram with a story about his work on the title promo, which he also updated on his official website. And while it was speculated that actress-singer Shruthi Haasan’s vocals were on the track, this too was confirmed when the promo music dropped on music streaming platforms. A Music and Sound Award (MASA) winner for Best Re-record or adaptation in a TV trailer/Promo for Gangs of London, Jeremy is also the man behind the trailer or TV promo music of A Discovery of Witches Season 2, Cobra Rebellion, Traces, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, The Diplomat, Station 19, Inteview With The Vampire, Great Escapes with Morgan Freeman, among many others. Jeremy is an alumnus of the University of West London, having graduated in Film Music Composition.
The revelation that Jeremy worked on the music is further proof of what Yash has been saying all along – he’s not been idling around and that work on the film was going on. In fact, while the actor’s most recent London trip was rumoured to be about chalking out the action blocks with stunt co-ordinator JJ Perry, it turns out, he also put Jeremy to work. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic has been earmarked as a 2025 Vishu release on April 10. Given that Jeremy’s primary focus area is trailer and promo music only, chances are that Charan Raj could still be on board for the film’s score.
