The movie, which completed shooting earlier this year, also marks the debut directorial of actor Vishnu G Raghav
Fans of Tovino Thomas are in for a double treat in June. The Minnal Murali star will be kicking off the month with the release of the mystery drama Dear Friend on June 10 and following it up with the theatrical release of Vishnu G Raghav’s directorial debut Vaashi.
The makers of the latter, which is touted to be a legal drama, announced the release date of the film through the cast’s social media pages recently. The film has both Tovino and Keerthy Suresh playing lawyers. The film revolves around the legal battles between the duo, who also play a couple in the film that was shot in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this year.
In an earlier interview with us, Tovino told us that Vishnu had first pitched the script of Vaashi to him in 2017 but he had to say ‘no’ to him despite the duo being good friends since 2012. “That didn’t affect our relationship. He reworked the script and told me the story two years later. This time, there was more detailing in the characters and situations,” said the actor.
Meanwhile, Tovino also has Dear Friend coming up. The film, which is again directed by an actor-turned-filmmaker, is helmed by Vineeth Kumar and has an ensemble cast featuring Darshana Rajendran, Basil Joseph, Sanchana Natarajan, Arjun Radhakrishnan and Arjun Lal.
The film, scripted by Suhas, Sharfu and Arjun Lal, is based on a bunch of friends in Bengaluru and revolves around an incident that changes their lives. The movie, which has Shyju Khalid, Ashiq Usman and Samir Thahir as its producers, was shot in Kochi, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
Tovino has also wrapped up the shoot of the entertainer Thallumala, which is helmed by Khalid Rahman. The film, also starring Shine Tom Chacko and Kalyani Priyadarshan, is also gearing up for release.
