Forensic, the 2020 Malayalam psychological thriller starring Tovino Thomas in the lead, is getting a Kannada release, as a dubbed version called Antima Kshana. Impressed by the content-rich narrative of the Malayalam hit, Gopinath and Chandrashekar Naidu are presenting the Kannada version, dubbing of which was completed recently. The duo intends to release Antima Kshana in theatres and a date is likely to be announced shortly.
Forensic is a wh odunit psychological crime thriller that revolves around Samuel John Kattukaran (Tovino), a police forensic personnel, who is assigned to a serial killer case in which the victims are little girls. Samuel joins Rithika Xavier (Mamta Mohandas), the chief investigating officer in the case, who also happens to be his brother’s ex-wife. The highlight of the film, of course, was the extensive reliance on scientific methods in solving the case and explored how important forensic evidence at a crime scene is to establish a crime.
The film also looks at the possibility of children committing heinous crimes, as well as how childhood trauma can cause irreparable damage to the psyche of a person, leading him/her to turn to crime. When the film released in 2020, it received mixed reviews, with many stating that Midhun Manuel Thomas’ Anjaam Pathiraa handled a similar subject a lot better.
Written and directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, the film also stars Mamta Mohandas (Gooli), Reba Monica John (Rathnan Prapancha), Prathap Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Renji Panicker, Anwar Shareef and Giju John, among many others. The film has music by Jakes Bejoy. B Manjunath and Rajneesh Deva have written the Kannada dialogues.
