The movie, which will be an investigative thriller, will go on floors in 2023
Malayalam star Tovino Thomas is all set to join hands with Forensic director Anas Khan and Akhil Paul for an investigative thriller, which has Madonna Sebastian as the female lead. The movie, titled Identity, was announced through the social media pages of the actors.
The film, which is set to go on floors in 2023, will be an action thriller, according to the team. It’s also the first time Tovino and Madonna are teaming up for a film. Akhil Paul and Tovino first worked together in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s 7th Day, which was scripted by the former. Their last venture Forensic, which was also an investigative thriller, was remade in Hindi recently with Radhika Apte and Vikrant Massey essaying the roles portrayed by Mamta Mohandas and Tovino, respectively.
In an interview with Can Channels, Akhil said that the duo completed Identity’s screenplay a fortnight ago and had narrated it to Tovino, who liked it and gave it the go ahead. Though the movie will have elements of investigation, Tovino does not play a cop in the movie, he clarified.
Identity will be made on a big budget, with banners Ragam Movies and Century Films bankrolling the venture. Ernakulam, Bengaluru and Coimbatore are the main locations of the film, which will have a few portions that will be shot in Mauritius.
Meanwhile, Tovino’s latest venture Thallumaala, which is helmed by Khalid Rahman, is running to packed theatres. The action entertainer, which revolves around a group of friends who have a penchant for getting into scuffles, grossed close to Rs 3.5 crore on its first day, making it the highest Day 1 collection for a Tovino-starrer. The big budget film, which also has Kalyani Priyadarshan, Shine Tom Chacko and Lukman Avaran, is produced by Ashiq Usman and written by Muhsin Parari and Ashraf Hamza.
