After more than three decades, Tom Cruise will return to the big screen yet again as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, in Top Gun: Maverick. The Hollywood star recently opened up about how the film helped him achieve one of his life long dreams.
In conversation with HELLO! Magazine, Cruise talked about how two of his biggest goals in life was to either become an actor or a pilot. Top Gun had helped the star combine his two passions, and Cruise referred to it as a ‘huge moment’ for him. Calling the film ‘life changing’, the actor opened up about how he had gotten a chance to fly in an F-14 jet which was a ‘dream come true’ for him. He also expressed his delight in reprising the role of a character he loved in the upcoming film.
The Mission: Impossible star also opened up about the aircraft stunts he was able to do in Top Gun: Maverick. He revealed that in some sequences, his own personal plane was used and so he got to pilot the same. "I also got to be in the jet fighter a lot more this time, which was thrilling”, he added.
Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to the 1986 classic action film directed by Tony Scott. In addition to Cruise, the upcoming film also features Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski.
Top Gun: Maverick will be released in theatres on May 27, 2022 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
