8. Parnashavarir Shaap

Streaming on Hoichoi

Horror has always been the weakest genre in the Bengali OTT space. Parambrata Chatterjee’s Parnashavarir Shaap is a nice break. It has its lows and unconvincing climax but it surely managed to shape its space among the audience. It has a fast renewal of the second season as well.

7. Nikhoj

Streaming on Hoichoi

Season one, though incomplete, is surely a nice build-up for the real mystery. Tota Roy Chowdhury and Swastika Mukherjee both are a treat to watch on screen. Besides, Loknath Dey’s performance also deserves appreciation.

6. Shikarpur

Streaming on Zee5

Shikarpur is a thriller and yet it manages to retain its flavour. It has a strong storyline and with quirky characters all around, the show is an engaging one.

5. Indubala Bhaater Hotel

Streaming on Hoichoi

Subhashree Ganguly stepped into the world of OTT with this show. Penned by Kallol Lahiri, Indubala Bhaater Hotel delves into the upheaval journey of a woman after the Partition. Subhashree garnered acknowledgment from all quarters for her stupendous performance.

4. Durgo Rawhoshyo

Streaming on Hoichoi

Srijit Mukherji’s Durgo Rawhoshyo is undoubtedly one of the best shows on the platform. It is not only well made but Anirban Bhattacharya’s acting makes us glued to the screen. Despite all the hullaballoo around the rights, making, and competition between the filmmakers, Durgo Rawhoshyo is one of the binge-worthy web series this year.

3. Dakghor

Streaming on Hoichoi

Dakghor is a fairy tale success story. It does not feature a huge star cast and it also invited a lot of unwarranted attention with a debate over who the real maker is. In fact, many people drew resembles between Dakghor and Panchayat. And yet, Suhotro Mukhopadhyay, along with Ditipriya Roy, Kanchan Mullick, and others, casts a magical spell on the viewers with the show’s simplicity.

2. Abar Proloy

Streaming on Zee5

Raj Chakraborty’s debut in the OTT space is nothing short of a blast. Abar Proloy is a high-octane cop drama that is totally unputdownable. With a strong reference to Raj’s film Proloy, this show delves into the dark ecosystem of human trafficking in Sunderban. With Saswata Chatterjee, Ritwick Chakraborty, and others, it is a full-on entertainment.

1. Chhotolok

Chhotolok is arguably the best Bengali web show ever. Soon after its release, the show garnered a massive appreciation. Social media buzzed with praises. Not only it is a tight thriller, but it also flourishes as a social drama that talks about class politics – haves and have-nots. Daminee Benny Basu, who plays the lead police officer SI Sabitri Mondol, was lauded by critics and viewers alike. From its script to music and acting – the show scores a 10-on-10 in almost all the departments. This show sets the bar high for the Bengali OTT content industry.
