Tom Hardy has reprised his role as alien symbiote Venom and journalist Eddie Brock in the upcoming sequel. In a recent interview the actor said it was a 'joy' for him to play both roles, as they are "two different parts of the same psyche."

In an interview with Press Trust of India Hardy also praised Venom: Let There Be Carnage's screenwriter Kelly Marcel. The film is a spinoff based on the character that was first introduced in the Spider-Man franchise.

He said that the story and the roles that he emulates have entirely been the writer's efforts, but even he has been "challenging it and pushing it and seeing what else I can do with it."

In the first film, Hardy's Brock gets infected with the alien parasite, giving him supernatural powers. Now, this new film will see him facing Cletus Kasady or Carnage, who is also infected by another alien parasite.

The cast of the film includes Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, Naomie Harris and Stephen Graham. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by actor-filmmaker Andy Serkis.

The film opened to mixed reviews, with some critics some panning the screenplay for being stuffed to the brim with details, while others calling it a "wildly entertaining ride."

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is part of the large slate of Indian and Hollywood films that Sony Pictures Films India is releasing over the next one year, according to Press Trust of India. These includ Taapsee Pannu's Loop Lapeta Mahesh Babu's Major and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Venom 2 will be out on October 14 in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu. However, it will be screened in Maharashtra on October 21, coinciding with the state's reopening of cinemas.
