Tom and Jerry OTT release: When and where to watch Nischith Korodi’s second film

The film, which also brought popular singer Sid Sriram to Kannada cinema, is available to stream now.

When it was announced, there were several factors about the Kannada film Tom & Jerry that caught everyone’s attention. For starters, the title was catchy. Second, it was actor Nischith Korodi’s follow up film, after Roopa Rao’s critically-acclaimed directorial, the coming-of-age drama Gantumoote, in which he played a school student. And third, the film brought popular Tamil and Telugu playback singer Sid Sriram to Kannada cinema, with the song, Haayagide.

The film follows the protagonists, Dharma (Nischith) and Satya (Chaitra Achar), childhood pals, who hail from vastly different socio-economic backgrounds. He lives with his foster parents in a slum, while she is from a well-to-do family. Despite her rich family background, though, Satya is not enamoured by the material world and wants to make a difference to the world. Tom & Jerry is the love story of these two, peppered with ample commercial elements, making it Nischith’s progression to mass hero. The film, directed by Raaghav Vinay Shivagange, released in theatres on November 12, and has now come to OTT.

Prior to the film’s release, Nischith had told us that choosing it as his second film was a conscious decision, as he wanted something that was nothing like his debut movie. “I did not want to get typecast as a romantic hero. My aim is to do roles in a wide variety of genres and Tom & Jerry fits into my scheme of things. This is a film that is high on content and not like the run-of-the-mill commercial flicks. There’s a stark contrast between Dharma and Satya – he has nothing and wants more; she has it all and doesn’t want anything. When these two meet, they are at each other’s throats, yet always together, pretty much like the cartoon characters of Tom and Jerry and that is what inspired the title,” he said. As of today, Tom & Jerry has begun streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
