Toby: Shivarajkumar is all praise for his 45 co-star Raj B Shetty’s ‘emotional’ film

Shivarajkumar loved the emotions in the film
Namma Karunada Chakravarthy Shivarajkumar is always supportive of Kannada film teams and last evening, he decided to check out his co-star Raj B Shetty’s latest film. Shivanna joined a host of other actors for a special celebrity show on Monday evening and was effusive in his praise for Raj, Chaithra J Achar and little Snigdha, who plays the younger version of Chaithra’s character. Speaking to the media after the show, Shivanna said that Toby is an emotional experience. “Raj has brought in a new standard of filmmaking. The film was very engaging, especially Raj’s performance,” he said.
The Hattrick Hero said that he was amazed at the emotional quotient of the film, as well as the action blocks. In fact, Shivanna said he was surprised to see Raj in such high-octane stunts. In the film, Raj plays a speech-impaired character and Shivanna appreciated the challenge his co-star took up in conveying emotions even in his silence. The Century Star, who is famed for emoting through his eyes, called out Raj’s efforts too. “In a lot of places, he has used his eyes and to great effect, which I liked a lot,” he said.

Then, turning his attention to Chaithra, he said that she is a fantastic artiste, and that he believed she has a great future ahead in cinema. “She came up with a heart-felt performance; which goes to show how well she understood the role and what was required of her,” he said. Samyukta Hornad, who plays a commercial sex worker in the film, also received praise for taking up a character that most artistes would have probably shunned. As a parting note, Shivanna also spoke about the phenomenal scripting and how well Raj connected every sequence to present Toby as a coherent narrative.
Toby, presented by KVN Productions, had a slow start on Friday morning, which picked up by late evening. However, the film did not register much growth over that, staying steady in the range of Rs 1.3 cr to 1.5 crore gross revenue on each day. These are not official figures, but those released by industry trackers, with information from online ticketing sites, etc. Day four figures are still trickling in, but was predicted to be lower than any of the weekend days.
