National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut makes her debut as a producer with the upcoming film Tiku Weds Sheru, which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

While the actor shares how he used to avoid visiting his native place during his days of struggle, the actress-turned-producer recalls how her family members used to question why despite being a heroine, she does not have a picture with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Sharing one of his earlier memories, Nawazuddin said how whenever he used to go back to his village, his relatives and friends used to ask questions that were funny and embarrassing at the same time.

Nawazuddin said, "When I came to Mumbai, for a few years all that I had was struggle, but all my relatives were under the impression that I am a hero in some film or the other and that I was hanging out with legendry actors every day, doing chai pe charcha. If I would say that I was working on a film just to avoid their endless questions, the next time I visited, they would ask me why the film has not yet released. In reality, I had no films in my hand. So, I used to not go back to my native place for five years at times. Once a friend asked me, 'Bhai, wo jo hero-heroine kiss karte hai, wo sach mein karte hai?' I said yes and they were shocked. In my village people would ask me if Hema Malini smokes chillam, referring to a scene they must have seen onscreen in a film. So, yes, in a small town, people still have so much curiosity about film, actors and what is the process of making films, etc."

Adding to that Kangana, who also comes from a small village - Bhambla, Himachal Pradesh - shared, "When I visited my village after the success of Gangster, all my relatives came to see me because in their eyes I was a Bollywood heroine then. When my uncle saw me, he told my mother, 'Guddi, teri beti to waise ki waisi hi hai, kuch nehi badli, aise kaise heroine ho gayi' (laughs). They would ask me if I have a photo with Amitabh Bachchan. I once attended an award function and I saw him, so when I told them they were almost scolded me, asking why I did not take a picture with Mr Bachchan. I think that is the simplicity of the people of small places; they are innocent people."

Kangana and Nawazuddin have collaborated on Tiku Weds Sheru, which will be released on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.
