Tiger Shroff faces a setback as Rambo gets postponed due to concerns over its potential box office performance.
When director Siddharth Anand announced Rambo in 2020, starring Tiger Shroff, the project appeared tailor-made for the action hero. The plan was for him to begin filming after Bade Miyan Chote Miyan's release, nearly four years later. But things appear to be different now. Apparently, the producers of Rambo have chosen to put the project on hold due to the lacklustre reception that Tiger's recent films, such as Ganapath (2023) and Heropanti 2 (2022), have had at the box office.
A source told Mid Day that producer Siddharth and director Rohit Dhawan wanted to mount Rambo on a huge budget. They waited to see how Bade Miyan Chote Miyan did at the box office before deciding whether Rambo was feasible after Heropanti 2 and Ganapath bombed. Siddharth decided to put his ambitious film on hold for the time being after the big-budget action entertainer had a disappointing run.
Throughout his ten-year career, action has been Tiger's strong suit, so he is surprised by the poor reception of his recent films. According to insiders, the actor might reduce his fees moving forward.
His alleged fee for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was more than Rs. 30 crore, according to the source. He should do the right thing by lowering his rates. Meanwhile, the actor is collaborating on a Karan Johar film and Rohit Shetty's Singham Again.
After a quiet year in 2021, Tiger returned to the big screen in 2022, co-starring with Tara Sutaria in the action sequel, Heropanti 2. The critical reception was unfavourable, and in the end, the film bombed at the box office. In 2023, Vikas Bahl directed Ganapath a science fiction action film co-starring Kriti Sanon. It was a financial bust once more.
This year, Ali Abbas Zafar's action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which also starred Akshay Kumar in the lead role, received poor reviews and even worse box office receipts.
