Thuramukham stars Nivin Pauly, Joju George and Indrajith.
After a number of delays and uncertainties regarding its release date, Nivin Pauly’s highly awaited Thuramukham is all set to hit the big screens this week. The film was originally set to hit theatres back in 2020, but had gotten delayed a number of times due to the problems caused by the pandemic and financial issues. But despite the delays, the excitement audiences harboured for the Rajeev Ravi directorial did not seem to diminish in the least. The director recently opened up about the success of South Indian films, taking a dig at Bollywood while he did so.
In conversation with Onmanorama, Rajeev spoke of how Bollywood did not seem to have much luck at the box office these days, with only a handful of Bollywood films becoming successful. In comparison, the director believed that South Indian cinema performed much better, and he added that the industry had been more successful compared to the Hindi film industry for quite a while now. “Bollywood is scared of South Indian cinema”, declared the director.
He went on to speak about how audiences from all over the country were able to access the Hindi dubbed version of South Indian films through various mediums like the internet, their mobile phones and even TV channels. Rajeev said that people from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and even Nepal were watching South Indian films these days.
South Indian films had become so popular that audiences from different parts of the country had become very familiar with Telugu and Tamil actors. This ascent of South Indian films had also debunked the notion that the entirety of the Indian film industry consisted of only Bollywood.
In addition to Nivin, Thuramukham also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Poornima Indrajith, Darshana Rajendran, Nimisha Sajayan, Binu Pappu, Arjun Ashokan and Sudev Nair.
Thuramukham will be released in cinemas on March 10, 2023.
