Thug Life update: Simbu to pair up with Trisha, film to be shot in Jaisalmer and Delhi

Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, is one of much-anticipated projects from the Tamil film industry. Directed by filmmaker Mani Ratnam, it is one of the star-studded films. However, after reports began to surface that Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi are out of the project, recent speculations say that the duo is back on the project. It is also said that actor Silambarasan has also joined the cast, who will be paired up with Trisha in the film.

What is the Thug Life update?

As per recent updates, Silambarasan is confirmed to play a prominent part in Thug Life and will be paired opposite Trisha. The film will mark their reunion onscreen after the romantic drama film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Silambarasan will also have combination scenes with Kamal Haasan, who will begin shooting from first week of May. Thug Life will be shot in Jaisalmer for a schedule with actors Trisha, Silambarasan, Gautham Karthik, Nasser and Aishwarya Lekshmi taking part. The crew will next move to Delhi.

The makers have remained tight-lipped about Silambarasan’s casting so far. Earlier, it was said that both Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi had opted out of the project due to date issues. However, recent reports say that both have returned to the project.

Backed by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies, Thug Life marks Kamal and Mani Ratnam’s reunion after the classic gangster film Nayakan. The production for the film was put on hold owing to the Lok Sabha elections. The film will have AR Rahman score the music. A release date for Thug Life is yet to be announced.

The team had earlier released teaser of Thug Life, creating much anticipation. The promo video hinted that the film might be a dystopian drama set many years into the future, with Kamal playing the role of an 'outlaw' - a thug with a legendary tale to tell.
