Thug Life: Trisha Krishnan resumes filming for Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam’s film; drops an update

Trisha Krishnan, who plays the female lead in director Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, recently resumed the filming of her pending song sequence in the film.

Thug Life, one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025, is nearing the final stages of its production. Director Mani Ratnam and his team recently wrapped up the principal photography of the upcoming Kamal Haasan starrer. As reported earlier, a song sequence featuring leading lady Trisha Krishnan was still pending. However, the popular actress recently took to her official social media handles and confirmed that she has resumed the Thug Life shoot. Interestingly, Trisha also dropped an exciting update on the film.

Even though Mani Ratnam and his team had wrapped up the shooting of the entire talkie portions of Kamal Haasan’s film, a song sequence was still pending. The exciting number, composed by Academy Award-winning musician AR Rahman features leading lady Trisha Krishnan. Recently, the popular star took to her official social media handles and confirmed that she has started shooting for the song. Interestingly, Trisha also revealed that this is her favorite song from the film, which she described as a ‘Masterpiece’.

“A Mani Ratnam film. An ARR musical. And T’s fav song from this masterpiece #ThugLife,” wrote the leading lady, who is currently in Mumbai with the Thug Life crew, for the song shoot. If the reports are to be believed, Trisha Krishnan is appearing as the onscreen pair of Silambarasan TR, who plays a pivotal role in Thug Life. More updates on the actress’ role in the film, and her first look, are expected to be out soon.

As reported earlier, director Mani Ratnam and his team are planning to release the upcoming hyperlink action film on April 10, 2024, as a Tamil New Year special release. In that case, Thug Life has a high chance to enjoy a solo run at the box office, as no other Tamil biggies are slated to be released on the same weekend, so far. The official release date of the film is expected to be announced on November 7, 2024, along with the Thug Life trailer, on the special occasion of Kamal Haasan’s 70th birthday.
