Thug Life release date: With AR Rahman scoring the music, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s film is expected to be a gangster flick with a hyperlink screenplay
Thug Life, the much-anticipated Tamil film headlined by Kamal Haasan, and directed by veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam, has finally got the release date. On the occasion of Kamal Haasan’s birthday, the makers took to social media on Thursday to announce that Thug Life will hit big screens next year.
We had earlier reported that after nearly four decades, veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam and actor-politician Kamal Haasan will be collaborating once again for an upcoming Tamil film titled Thug Life. The makers on Thursday announced that the film is all set to hit big screens on June 5, 2025.

The teaser shows various visuals, and interesting action sequences, and one can see how the film has been shot in various locales. We see Kamal Haasan in some stunt sequences, while a glimpse of Silambarasan is also shown.
Thug Life comes from Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. The film boasts a star ensemble cast, including actors Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Karthik, Joju George, Abhirami, Nasser and Hindi actor Ali Fazal in important roles. Earlier, Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salmaan were announced as part of the cast. However, due to scheduling conflicts, the duo had to opt out of the project. Hence, Silambarasan and Ashok Selvan were cast for their roles. AR Rahman is scoring music for the film.

Thug Life marks Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s second collaboration after their 1987 film Nayakan. You can stream the film on Prime Video. With the classic status of Nayakan, much anticipations are built on Thug Life.
Expected to be high on action, and a gangster film, Thug Life is touted to be a hyperlink screenplay with multiple threads culminating at one point. The team has filmed in locales including Serbia, New Delhi, Rajasthan, and Puducherry. The technical crew consists of cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran and editor Sreekar Prasad.
