Even though Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sardar Udham’ had bagged five honours at the prestigious 69th National Film Award, the ‘Best Actor’ award was bagged by Allu Arjun
The recently held 69th National Film Awards saw many surprises. Even though a few names were obvious to be definite winners, there were others who sprung a surprise at the said awards ceremony. For the uninitiated, it was the Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Sardar Udham’ which bagged five honours. These five honours include ‘Best Hindi Film’, ‘Best Cinematography’, ‘Best Costume Designer’, ‘Best Production Design’, and ‘Best Audiography: Re-Recording (Final Mixing)’.
Even though the National Film Award for the ‘Best Actor’ was bagged by Allu Arjun, many felt that it was Vicky Kaushal who deserved it more. In an interview with India Today.in, Vicky Kaushal spoke about losing the National Film Award for the ‘Best Actor’ to Allu Arjun. Vicky Kaushal said that working in ‘Sardar Udham’ was indeed a dream come true for him as it was a dream come true for him to work with a director he liked. He added that, since he was a Punjabi, the film’s topic was extremely close to his heart.
He added that, all of us had been listening to the ‘Sardar Udham’s story since our childhood days and always used to wonder the reason as to why are not many people know about the said topic. He added that, when he got the opportunity to work in the said film, it was indeed a big deal for him.
He also added that, after having got an opportunity to work in the film, what he got or did not get… everything was a bonus for him. He summed it up stating that for him, the very fact that the story reached the world and got appreciated and resonated... meant everything. He also added that he had no qualms (about anything).
As for Vicky Kaushal’s work, he will now be seen in ‘The Great Indian Family’, which is being scheduled to release in theatres on September 22 this year.-
