After Amy Farrah Fowler's cameo in Young Sheldon as a narrator, another Big Bang Theory actor returns to Sheldon's life with a cameo in the coming-of-age drama that revolves around a genius kid who struggles to understand his family dynamics.

In the upcoming episode of Season 5, fans will get to see the engineer Howard Wolowitz reprising his role (in the voice-over narration) for the spin-off series. He is expected to reveal why Sheldon has come to hate engineers so much. Sheldon will be seen meeting his first engineering professor. The role of the professor will be played by Lance Reddick. In an interview with Deadline, executive producer Steven Molaro had said that it is 'extra fun when we’re able to incorporate Big Bang Theory Easter eggs into the storylines'. Even though the roles are voice-overs with Jim and Simon getting on Zoom to narrate their lines, the producer said that the two did not miss the opportunity to have their banter as Sheldon Cooper and Howard Wolowitz. "This episode sees the return of Reba McEntire and introduces Lance Reddick as Sheldon’s first engineering professor ­– it’s absolutely one of our best episodes,” he told the portal.

The promo shared by the makers shows Sheldon boasting about his Nobel prize while Howard shares his photograph in the astronaut costume, reminding everyone like Sheldon, that he has been to space. It then is followed by the two's arguments and how Howard offered to help write him an introduction about engineering. It also shares a sneak peek of Sheldon's first engineering class by Lande Reddick, someone who's extremely punctual. Sheldon believes that he has already become his favourite student.

Simon Helberg played the role of Howard for all the seasons of The Big Bang Theory series. His character is known for being a cocky and inappropriate relationship with his mother. Sheldon is seen bullying Howard always for being an engineer and not a physicist or a PhD holder like his other Pasadena friends. Howard gets used to his constant bickering but after he goes to space on a mission, he gains confidence and starts boasting about his out-of-the-world experience.

Young Sheldon has Iain Armitage playing the role of younger Sheldon, the titular character, played by Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory. The other star cast includes Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord and Matt Hobby. The series is narrated by Parsons.
