Thiruchitrambalam marks the fourth collaboration between Mithran Jawahar and Dhanush after Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty, and Uthamaputhiran.
Dhanush and Nithya Menen received rave reviews for their outstanding performances in Thiruchitrambalam. The film is off to a blazing start at the box office, and the collection is expected to skyrocket over the weekend. According to trade reports, Thiruchitrambalam earned between Rs 8 and 9 crore on its first day, out of which six crore were collected in Tamil Nadu. Even though it is not Dhanush's best collection, it is a massive number for a medium-budget film released on a working day.
Instead of the usual Friday release, the makers of Thiruchitrambalam chose a Thursday release to have a longer first weekend and to take advantage of the holiday Friday (Krishna Jayanti/Janmashtami). As a result, the box office numbers for the next three days will be higher than the first, and the film has already received some additional screenings.
A feel-good family entertainer written and directed by Mithran Jawahar, Thiruchitrambalam also features Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar, in key roles.
The film brings Dhanush back to the theatres after a hattrick of OTT releases after Jagame Thanthiram, Atrangi Re, and Maaran.
OTTplay review of Thiruchitrambalam read, "Most of the film feels real like we are watching people from right behind them. Every spoken line is casual yet loaded with meaning. It is this approach to the material (a blend of drama and conventional romantic and emotional tropes) that helps this one sustain a steady rhythm."
Dhanush plays a food delivery executive named Thiruchitrambalam aka Pazham, and the film marks the fourth collaboration between Mithran Jawahar and the actor after Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty, and Uthamaputhiran.
The film has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander and marks the return of the Dhanush-Anirudh combo after 2015’s Thanga Magan.
Cinematographer Om Prakash and editor Prasanna GK are part of the technical crew. Up next, The Gray Man actor is teaming up with director Elan of Pyaar Prema Kaadhal-fame on a romantic film. Hearsay is that this untitled one is bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films. However, we await an official word.
