Filmmaker KS Ravikumar, who played the lead in Google Kuttappa, a Tamil remake of Android Kunjappan Version 5.25, interacted with Chennai-based college students, at an event. Students threw a volley of questions and the director-actor patiently answered all of them. Interestingly, at some point, the session veered towards the sci-fi action thriller, Dasavatharam, which starred Haasan in ten distinct roles.

Ravikumar said, "Many ask if there's a possibility of me collaborating with Kamal sir on Dasavatharam 2. I don't think the film has a scope for a sequel. It's not going to be easy for us to work on something ambitious, along those lines again."

Speaking about the increase in the viewership of OTT platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Disney+Hotstar, Ravikumar added, "OTT platforms would continue to remain an option and not disappear just because theatres had reopened. Both will co-exist. When the television was introduced first, people saw it as the death of cinema. Has cinema vanished now? No experience can match the thrill of watching a movie in theatres."

In an interview, Kamal Haasan himself had said Dasavatharam was nothing short of a masterclass for him. The film was under production for nearly three years, and became a massive hit upon its release in 2008.

The soundtrack of Dasavatharam was composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

On playing ten roles in Dasavatharam, Kamal Haasan, in a statement, had said, “There were many masters to teach and learn from. Cinema was the ultimate master and quite forgiving when we failed in some parts; more forgiving than the audience who made it a hit. I can say I learnt democracy during the making of this film!”

The actor said "many directors" turned down the film's script saying they didn't "understand it," except for Ravikumar, who was convinced the movie would be a winner. Haasan mentioned the enormous contribution of Academy Award-winning make-up artist Michael Westmore, who helped him design the film's ten distinct characters. The actor also acknowledged the efforts of his technicians, and stunt directors for giving their best to achieve his cinematic vision, but said he would not "forgive or forget" those who had abandoned the project.
