Disney CEO Robert Iger, Netflix
Disney has made a new agreement with Netflix and Hulu to release its fourteen shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, all previous nineteenth seasons from Spring 2024. However, only Hulu will offer the upcoming twentieth season, following their ABC broadcast. Created by Shonda Rhimes and produced by ABC Signature (part of Disney Television Studios) and Shondaland, Grey's Anatomy holds the record for the longest-running medical drama.
The fourteen Disney shows' release dates on Netflix
The other fourteen shows of Disney that will stream on Netflix in 2024 are – The Wonder Years from January 1, This Is Us from January 8, My Wife & Kids from February 5, ESPN 30 for 30 (25 episodes) between February-December, The Resident from March 4, White Collar from April 1, Reba from May 6, Archer from May 13, How I Met Your Mother from June 3, Lost from July 1, Prison Break from July 29, The Hughleys from September 2, Bernie Mac from January 1, 2025, and Home Improvement from February 1, 2025.
What is the reason behind releasing on Netflix, and not on Hotstar?
The announcement was made by Disney CEO, Robert Iger. However, he also mentioned that Disney will not give the licence for its core brand shows of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars to Netflix. According to reports, this decision was made to increase Disney’s own streaming platform – Hostar’s subscribers. Disney is currently planning to launch some of the biggest new contents on Hotstar to retain users.
