Anya Chalotra and Creature Commandos Still

It’s been over a year since James Gunn took the reins of the DC wing of Warner Bros, alongside Peter Safran, and rebranded it as DCU. However, as they shape the new era of the studio, fans have no choice but to sit patiently for announcements to come at their own pace. While it's still a considerable time before the first live-action movie Superman: Legacy hits shores in July 2025, there is one more project that will be animated and will mark the beginning of DCU . Creature Commandos will start streaming this year, and the anticipation is high. It turns out that The Witcher star Anya Chalotra has joined the cast.

Anya Chalotra Joins Creature Commandos

As per the latest update from James Gunn through his Twitter handle, Anya Chalotra has joined the voice cast of Creature Commandos. When a fan asked whether The Witcher star is a part of the cast as Circe or not, Gunn confirmed her participation in the show. Anya, known for playing Yennefer in The Witcher, has a niche fanbase for her performance and was also seen in Wanderlust.

Confirming her casting in the show, James Gunn on Twitter wrote, “Yes. And there are other cool characters in the show played by other cool actors. But all of the series regulars were announced.” This created a massive stir on the platform and the internet in general, as this is a big addition to the already starry cast of the show.

What Is Creature Commandos

Backed by Warner Bros, Creature Commandos will be a 7-episode series streaming on HBO Max. The show, written by James Gunn, is based on a black ops team of monsters brought together by Amanda Waller. The show will have them at the center and explore their lives while dangers await. Call them the Thunderbolts of the DCU. The animated show will be mostly TV-MA rated considering the violent nature of the content. Even the animated version will have much to be given a TV-MA rating.
