Keep your coins ready to toss to your favourite monster hunter, as The Witcher is gearing up for a comeback. The latest season of the Henry Cavill-led fantasy drama will be released next month.
What is The Witcher about?
The fantasy drama is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular book series of the same name and traces the journey of Geralt of Rivia, played by Cavill, a man who hunts monsters in exchange for money. Against his wishes, Geralt is linked with ousted crown princess Ciri, who is foretold to be the monster hunter’s ‘destiny’.
During the course of his adventures Geralt runs into several intriguing people, including a travelling bard by the name of Jaskier who accompanies him on his journey, and Yennefer of Vengerberg, a powerful sorceress.
Are there any other adaptations of The Witcher?
An animated spin off film to the series called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf premiered on Netflix in August. A sequel to the same is also in development.
A live-action limited series intended to be a prequel to the series is also in the works. It is titled The Witcher: Blood Origin.
